Gas compression and conditioning
Compression specified from the sales point back, so the package you buy delivers gas the buyer will accept.
01
What we source
- Gas-engine and electric-driven reciprocating compressor packages
- Vapor recovery units
- Gas conditioning (dew point control, dehydration)
- Fiscal gas metering
- Gas-fired power generation
02
What we check
Each candidate is reviewed line by line against your requirement before anyone travels to inspect.
| Area | What we verify |
|---|---|
| 01Rate | Design rate and turndown |
| 02Pressures | Suction and discharge pressures against the gas buyer's delivery point |
| 03Staging and power | Number of stages and installed horsepower |
| 04Redundancy | Spare capacity and the effect of one unit being down |
| 05Gas composition | CO2, H2S and gas gravity |
| 06Conditioning | Dew point control and dehydration to the sales specification |
| 07Fuel gas | Fuel gas consumption and its effect on sales volumes |
| 08Used packages | Refurbishment scope, operating history and certification |
03
Common pitfalls we catch
- Compression sized before the sales pressure is known
- No recovery of low-pressure gas, leading to flaring
- Single-unit designs with no redundancy
04
What you receive
- Compression specification
- New versus refurbished options
- Supplier comparison

Questions
Why does the sales pressure matter so much?
Discharge pressure sets the number of stages, the horsepower and often the frame size. A package sized before the delivery pressure is agreed can be too small, or larger and more expensive than it needs to be.
Is a refurbished compressor package a sensible option?
It can be, if the frame and cylinders suit your pressures and rates and the refurbishment scope is documented. We compare refurbished and new packages on the same specification, including lead time and certification.
Can compression help reduce flaring?
Vapor recovery and low-pressure compression can capture gas that would otherwise be flared. Whether this is economic depends on volumes and the offtake route, which we review as part of the specification.
